WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) THERAPY?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a minimally invasive non-surgical treatment. The body’s natural reaction to an injury is to send platelets from the blood to the damaged tissues to initiate healing.  Platelets store a vast array of growth factors which are released through cell signals received from the injected tissue to mediate healing. The autologous PRP treatment therefore uses your own concentrated platelets and growth factors to stimulate and enhance the body’s own healing response to treat acute injury.

By enhancing the body’s natural healing capacity, this treatment has been shown to lead to a more rapid, more efficient and more thorough restoration of the tissues to a healthy state. Since PRP is prepared from your own blood, it causes no concern for rejection, infection, or disease transmission.

REGENERATIVE ESTHETICS

Studies have postulated that the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) could play a role in dermal rejuvenation; numerous growth factors are released from activated platelets upon contact with collagen which can help fibroblast proliferation and type 1 collagen expression. The amount of growth factors released is directly proportional to the amount of platelets concentrated in PRP; therefore, if there are little to no platelets in the injectate, patients will report little to no outcomes. Conversely, we found statistically significant facial rejuvenation outcomes with 3 consecutive PurePRP injections (6-8x baseline concentration) using quantifiable biometric parameters.
